1-2-3-4-5-6-7...

Eight?

Just another confirmation that I am right to drop Cingular as my wireless plan.
The customer service phone number listed on their website is:
1-866-CINGULAR

That is one number too many.
You'd think a phone company would know better...

(I know, I know, it works if you call it that way--but it is the principle of the thing here, people)

Discover does that too. It also rankles me. :)

I had had no problems with Cingular with the exception of the eggphone, which I did not blame on them, I blamed on sony/ericcson. So, I renewed my plan for another 2 years and got a new phone.

AND SINCE THEN IT'S BEEN NOTHING BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE HEEELLLLL. Truly, I know I have to wait 2 years, but I will certainly be dropping them.

Like all my calls are dropped the minute I leave the downtown area. And all those "Fewest Dropped Call" commercials drive me crazy. Maybe fewest overall - but in the new orleans area, they drop me faster than paris hilton's new boyfriend(s). (I was being clean, there. SO clean.).

So, anyway, that's my Cingular Rant. Thanks for playing. :)

Oh, god, cell phones. I can't even take one on: I'm too busy trying to get through to the customer service departments at my bank, my credit card company, the doctor office, basically everywhere I go and everyone from whom I purchase everything. Yesterday I had to call the credit card company to ask why my card was declined (I'm all paid up, no big charges lately, etc., so wtf, as the Kewl Kidz would say). The very perky rep (in India, I'm sure) said, "Yes, there's a hold on your card." I said, clearly enough I thought, "Okay. Why?" at which point they had to transfer me to another department, where they took it off but still couldn't explain it.

Ah. In cell phones and credit cards, it's all about the personal touch, as well as the too-long phone numbers.
